But a much more improved performance lifts spirits
RED ROSE JUNIORS 3 WALMER BRIDGE 0 It was with great trepidation that we travelled to play Red Rose away, back at the top of the division they were without doubt going to give us a very difficult game. Not one that I really wanted whilst trying to restore the boys battered confidence and getting them back playing with the ability we all know they have. The first half was going to be even more difficult playing against the wind but I thought the four boys at the back defended alot better, and the midfield in front of them competed and certainly gave Red Rose more to think about than they perhaps expected looking at our league position. Going a goal down was no real surprise, but it was our boys reaction that pleased me, their heads didn't drop and they carried on competing and if we hadn't had conceded another bang on half time we would have started the second half in a much better position. The second half although with the breeze behind us proved as difficult as Red Rose handled the conditions better than we had, keeping the ball on the floor and playing some nice passing football. It was then somewhat ironic that Elliot popped up to score against his ex team mates, with a well taken shot ( or was it a cross!!!!). But again the heads didn't drop and we battled on to the end. My thanks to all the boys, i had asked for one thing only for this game, win lose or draw all I wanted was 100% committment and attitude and they all gave me that. A couple of additional well dones, to Adam who played for the first time at fuill back and did a great job, to jamie who did well in central midfield tackling well and using the ball creatively, and to James who seems to have suffered the most with confidence, back to nearing his best again today. But well done again to all the squad, we move on from here. |
